Attention Electricians!

Do you know your skills as a craftsman may be worth more today than any other time in recent history? This is because of a new program called COMET. This now makes your skills worth more. As a nonunion craftsman, you are viewed as "safe" and merit shop employers are competing for your services.

The COMET is an educational program for all workers, union and nonunion. The COMET Program launched over 8 years ago, has informed hundreds of workers of their right to organize, and to cultivate feelings of friendship among those in the industry. Therefore, all workers are worth the same.

Local 915 is a construction local, chartered by the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers for inside construction and maintenance by Contractors in the defined geographical boundaries covering 11 counties in West Central Florida.

Journeyman, Apprentice Wiremen, Construction Wiremen, and Construction Electricians, enjoy above average wages and benefits for themselves and their families accomplished through a process known as collective bargaining.

Benefits such as health care (insurance for the member and his or her family), two pension plans, and vacation benefits are all paid by the employer, not the member.

All the above is outlined in the collective bargaining agreement between the Union and the contractors, plus many more items that make the daily lives of our members far superior to those not represented by a Union.

Local 915 provides a vital service to those employers who pay those wages and benefits as mentioned above by providing highly skilled Journeymen and apprentices to take care of their construction and maintenance needs.

Our members remain on the cutting edge of the changes and advancements in the electrical industry by participating in upgrade and continuing education classes such as CODE Review, Motor Controls, Instrumentation, PLCs, Fiber Optics, Advanced Welding, and many other related or associated training classes that are provided to better serve our employers.

There is no entity that can train electricians faster or better than the IBEW. Since we are a nonprofit organization, no one can train at a lower cost.

So remember, if you are presently doing electrical work in our jurisdiction or maybe you're thinking about exploring the possibilities of a career in this industry, please call our office. We will inform you of your options relating to the electrical industry. All calls are confidential!

One word of warning there are those who will attempt to distort and thereby destroy your access to true facts about union organization. There is nothing so strong as the simple truth, and we believe with that knowledge it's easier to make an intelligent decision about you and your family's future.

"We earnestly invite all men belonging to our trade to come forward, join in our ranks and help increase our numbers, until there shall be no one working at our trade outside of our brotherhood..."

-Portion of the 1891 Preamble to the Constitution of the IBEW.

If you would like more information about the IBEW, apprenticeship or unionizing your work place, please give us a call. Remember, all calls are confidential!
